1. Are the barn door hardware kits stocked locally in NZ?

Yes. All the barn doors and hardware are New Zealnd stock. Our showroom and warehouse are located in Auckland.

2. What sizes of hardware tracks are available, and how do I choose the right one?

The barn door hardware we offer ranges from 1.6 to 6 meters in length.

Choosing the right barn door track length can be confusing, but it doesn’t have to be. The table below gives you clear guidance based on your door opening width, making it easy to find the perfect track for your sliding door.

Please note our sliding door hardware set can hold up to 150 kg door. 
So, typically, once you have the door opening width, you can refer to this detailed table to easily find the right barn door hardware for your door.

3. What door weight and thickness can the hardware support?

For top-mount barn door hardware tracks, the load-bearing capacity is 100 kg. For side-mount barn door hardware tracks, the load-bearing capacity is 150 kg.

The recommended door thickness is 35–45 mm. If the door is thicker than this range, please let us know and we can provide free extra roller bolts.


4. Do these kits include the door or just the hardware?

The barn door hardware kit includes the hardware only. 

 

🛠️ Installation & Fit Questions

5. Is installation difficult? Can I do it myself?

You can install the barn door yourself, as an installation manual is included with the hardware. The manual shows all the tools you will need. Alternatively, you can hire a carpenter to install the barn door.

If you are not installing the doors right away, please store them in a flat position to prevent any warping or misalignment


6. Do I need special structural support (headers) or backing for installation?

When the wall studs or headers do not align perfectly, you will need special structural support (headers) or backing for installation. We also offer ceiling brackets that allow you to mount barn door slides directly to the ceiling, which can help solve this issue.

7. How high and where should I mount the track?

Please find the image blow for reference.

1. (43mm+ Door Height) is the distance between the finished floor and the horizontal line that you will pencil for the track.

2. Check if your floor is level. If not, please measure the distance from the highest point of your floor.

3. Make sure that the horizontal line has the same length as your track length. So you can easlily find your track hole center position to attach the track to your wall in the following steps.

8. Do I need bottom guides? What do they do?

A T-shape floor guide has been included in the kit, designed for doors with slots at the bottom and it needs to be mounted onto the ground.However, if your door doesn't have a slot or you'd like to have the wall mount floor guide, we have the Steel 8 in 1 Floor Guide available to be purchased separately (see product link below). https://barndoorhardware.co.nz/collections/accessories/products/steel-barn-door-floor-guide-8-in-1

 

 

📏 Measurement Questions

9. How should I measure for a barn door and hardware?

It is recommended that the barn door height be about 5 centimeters taller than the door opening, and the door width be about 10 centimeters wider than the door opening.

10. What clearance is needed above and around the door?

When installing the track, the clearance space above the door top is 150mm

 

 

📦 Shipping, Delivery & Returns

11. How long does shipping take within NZ?

We will arrange the shipment on the same day we receive the order and entrust NZPOST or ARAMEX to deliver your parcel. Usually, it will arrive within 1–4 days.

12. What if the item is damaged during transit?

Please do a careful inspection of the item you received upon delivery. If you observe any damage to the package and the item inside, you will need to take photos of the damaged package and the item and contact us immediately. Claims will not be accepted without doing so.


13. What if the item is wrongly shipped?

If the item is wrongly shipped, please take photos and contact us ASAP. We will take our priority to give you a replacement. we will refund your return postage only up to the amount it originally cost to send the item to you.


14. What is the returns and cancellation policy?

We have a 30-day return policy for the hardware and locks, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and in its original packaging.

If you would like to return the item for any reason except for factory faulty, we will provide a refund for the product only, the ship cost is non-refundable, if applicable. The return postage shall be handled by the buyer and is non-refundable as well.

If you would like to return the item due to factory faulty reasons, please take photos and contact us ASAP. We will refund your return postage only up to the amount it originally cost to send the item to you.

🛡️ Warranty & Safety

15. Does the hardware come with a warranty?
We provide a 10-year warranty for all the tracks, if you have any quetions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. 

16. Are there built-in safety features like anti-jump blocks or soft-close?
Anti-jump blocks are included in the barn door hardware package. For the soft-closer, you can purchase it from our store. 

 

🏠 Use & Practicality Questions

17. Where should barn doors be used in the home?

It depends on your needs, you can use them at your bedrooms, wardrobes, room dividers, indoor–outdoor and so on.

18. How do barn doors affect privacy, insulation, and noise?

Barn doors are not recommended for areas that require strong insulation or noise reduction, as they don’t perform as well as traditional flat doors in these aspects. However, barn doors do offer privacy and save a significant amount of space. Therefore, it’s wise to plan your space thoughtfully, using different types of doors according to their purpose.
